Jim Schaffer

Chairman & Founder

When he founded the company in 1992, Schaffer Associates Chairman Jim Schaffer brought almost three decades of experience in corporate leadership to the equation. Serving as a senior executive in the retail industry for 25 years, he has extensive experience in directing businesses on both a regional and national basis. In particular, Jim’s focus has been on the hardware and building materials industries, serving in officer-level positions with such companies as Builders Square, Erb Lumber, Diamond Lumber, Grossman’s Inc., and Sears. As a recognized industry leader, Jim has contributed measurably to the industry’s growth. As a result, he has developed a vast number of relationships, as well as a comprehensive perspective of the industry itself. Jim has been a featured speaker at industry functions and has written a number of articles for both trade and national publications. This breadth of experience and exposure serves both Schaffer Associates and the building materials industry well. Today, Jim maintains a highly visible leadership position in the industry in a wide variety of roles.  He is a member of the Building Material Suppliers Association and has been a featured speaker at industry conferences.  In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors for a major global manufacturer. Under Jim’s direction, Schaffer Associates has become a national leader in organizational consulting and executive search for both industry and Fortune 500 clients.  His efforts have resulted in helping companies like The Scotts Company, ICI Glidden, and Ace Hardware restructure their leadership teams to meet the demands of an ever-changing industry.  The standards for integrity and professionalism that he has integrated into the practice are unparalleled, and his commitment to producing superior results for his client base is unwavering. Jim earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and has completed extensive postgraduate work in organizational design, organizational behavior, and management. He has the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for JAARS, a non-profit organization that supports Bible translation and literacy around the globe. An active member of Calvary Church, Jim resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife, Jackie. Jim and Jackie have four adult children and ten grandchildren.


JACKIE SCHAFFER
President & CFO

Jackie is one of the co-founders of Schaffer Associates and manages the daily financial affairs of the business today as President and CFO. A Baltimore native, Jackie began her professional career with Sears Roebuck & Co., where she served in several store level assignments.  During her tenure with Sears, Jackie met a Sears Management trainee, Jim Schaffer, whom she subsequently married. Jackie put her budding retail career on temporary hold in order to raise a family. In the late 1980s, Jackie resumed her professional career by entering the real estate market in Troy, Michigan, where she quickly became a top seller of residential properties for Red Carpet Real Estate. In 1992, she had the privilege of launching Schaffer Associates with her husband. In addition to managing the business from a financial perspective, Jackie provides research and referencing support to the company and conducts behavioral testing and assessment for candidates as needed. Since Schaffer Associates’ strategic relocation to Charlotte, N.C. in 1997, Jackie has managed the company’s various real estate activities, including everything from researching new markets to negotiating lease terms. She has supported the growth and expansion of the business ever since, including a 2014 relocation to the company’s current offices. Jackie began her studies at Catonsville Community College, and subsequently attended Roanoke College, where she majored in Psychology, giving her a strong background in behavioral interviewing. Currently residing in Charlotte, N.C. with her husband, Jim, Jackie has four adult children and is the proud grandmother of nine. She is active as a Precept Bible Study teacher in her local church and home.


Jacqueline Schaffer Shaw, Esq.
Vice President Client Development & General Counsel

Jacqueline Schaffer Shaw serves as Vice President Client Development and General Counsel for Schaffer Associates. As Vice President Client Development, Jacqueline oversees the development of both new and current client relationships. In this role, she is also responsible for directing all corporate communications and marketing, including print, public relations, and social media. As General Counsel, she provides legal counsel to the company with a special focus on employment issues. Before joining Schaffer Associates in 2010, Jacqueline served as Counsel for Government Affairs for the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) in Washington, D.C. During her tenure with the ACLJ, she gained experience working at the Committee and Sub-Committee levels with both the U.S. House and Senate in an effort to support the constitutional rights and freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. While working on a variety of cutting-edge policy issues, she was also engaged in a number of issues involving international human rights, taking her to the United Nations on several different occasions. From 2013 to 2016, Jacqueline had the privilege of serving her community as a Member of the North Carolina House of Representatives in Raleigh, proudly representing House District 105. As a Legislator, Jacqueline enjoyed representing her constituents and being a voice for small business at the N.C. General Assembly. Jacqueline earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and her law degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Jacqueline also has the honor of serving as a member of the Crystal Vision Executive Board, which is responsible for planning and promoting the annual Crystal Vision Awards Breakfast at the NAHB International Builders’ Show. Additionally, she is proud to serve as a Board Member for the North Carolina Family Policy Council, as well as for its sister organization, NC Family Action. Jacqueline and her husband currently reside in South Charlotte, where they are active members of Calvary Church.


DAWN YOUNGBLOOD-REYNOLDS
Account Executive

Dawn Youngblood-Reynolds first joined Schaffer Associates as a Recruiter in early 2015, building on a career that is characterized by a deep knowledge of the recruiting process at various levels and for a wide range of clients. Adding to the industry focus of Schaffer Associates, Dawn has extensive experience working in the hardware, home improvement, and building materials industries. Working in the building materials industry comes naturally to Dawn, having grown up in her father’s business as a manufacturer’s representative in the commercial construction industry. Her experience there included a number of responsibilities ranging from fielding customer questions to reading architectural designs and handling architectural bid submittals. Dawn came to Schaffer Associates with a rich background not only in the industry, but in recruiting specifically. She served as Director of Talent Acquisition and Business Development Leader for various staffing companies, and she has noteworthy experience recruiting in the manufacturing industry in particular. At Schaffer Associates, Dawn engages in direct interaction with job candidates, handles prospective candidate development strategies, and focuses on relationship building between Schaffer Associates clients and candidates. Her unique way of connecting with candidates makes her a great asset to the company. Following her successful tenure as a Recruiter, Dawn now serves Schaffer Associates as a well-experienced Account Executive. A North Carolina native, Dawn earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from Liberty University in Virginia. She is an active member of her Charlotte community, leading Bible study groups and volunteering with organizations such as Be The Match. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, playing golf, cooking, and spending time with her husband and family.
