[POSITION FILLED] Schaffer Associates is recruiting for a Director of Marketing and Sales for leading manufacturer within the home improvement industry in the greater New York City metro area. Our Client is seeking an individual who has passion and dedication to grow the business and team through innovative thinking, collaboration, and hard work. The Director of Marketing and Sales will be tasked with taking a holistic approach to marketing, competitive pricing strategies, new and existing channels of distribution, and compelling marketing campaigns. He or she will partner with multiple stakeholders both inside and outside the Marketing Department including Field Sales, Finance, Demand & Production Planning, Operations, and R&D.  This position will involve developing and executing annual marketing plans (consumer, trade, and advertising) to meet and exceed financial targets.  The Director of Marketing and Sales will also help set strategy and work within both Marketing and Sales to develop selling and promotional programs to drive the business at retail.  This key team leader will also ensure that feedback of customer needs and requirements is properly incorporated into marketing plans.  Various requirements for the position include exceptional financial and analytical acumen, as well as an understanding of market factors and their impact on P&L with a strong problem-solving ability necessary to close potential plan gaps.

    • Support the implementation and evolution of the company’s growth over time.
    • Assist in the creation and execution of both short-term and medium-term marketing strategies.
    • Devise selling strategies that increase distribution on new and existing items.
    • Support development and implementation of the annual business plan; deliver both short- and long-term sales, share, and income results.
    • Lead development, alignment, execution, and measurement of brand marketing programs including digital media activation, new product development, consumer research, in-store merchandising, and displays, and assist with e-commerce.
    • Ensure the proper execution of strategies and programs, monitoring their effectiveness and conducting pre- and post-launch analysis to drive improvement.
    • Support development of annual integrated marketing plans; lead execution of those plans.
    • Analyze business results and competitive performance; develop and make recommendations to ensure volume and profit targets are met.
    • Leverage research (historical, secondary) and insights (consumer and supplier research, trends, Channel intelligence) to identify growth opportunities.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to bring initiatives to market which amplify the growth potential in our brands and multi-year growth pillars.


    • Partner with manager to influence all P&L line items for the brand, evaluating alternate marketing plans, product/portfolio strategies, pricing/trade promotion plans, and distribution/channels strategies in order to meet financial hurdles and deliver optimum enterprise value.
    • Manage marketing budget for the brand to ensure spending is within budget and properly allocated.
    • Analyze and report progress against digital advertising campaign goals and report on ROI.


    • Devise selling strategies that increase distribution on new and existing items.
    • Develop win-win merchandising programs that increase display revenue and margin.
    • Help to attain business goals for merchandising and marketing activations.
    • Partner with third party vendors (e.g., agencies) to develop and activate key tactics.
    • Monitor and analyze competitive activities across customers including price, promotion, new products, and merchandising, and adjust strategies accordingly.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field. MBA strongly preferred.
  • Experience implementing across a range of marketing initiatives such as consumer promotion plans, new product development, packaging design, etc.; experience leading teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering business results.
