EWP General Manager Needed for Regional Lumber Dealer

[POSITION FILLED] Schaffer Associates is recruiting for a General Manager – Engineered Wood Products and Treated Wood Operations for a highly respected regional lumber dealer, responsible for leading the employees in the EWP and Treated yards in various activities including cutting, loading and unloading, moving, staging, pulling orders and transporting engineered lumber and treated wood products. The General Manager is also responsible for improving profitability by managing inventory, reducing waste, increasing turns, shortening lead times, and improving on time/in full metrics, while working cooperatively with supervisors, the EWP design team, Sales Managers, and other employees in order to complete the required work load, and always following the corporate safety policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS:

  • Plans, develops, and implements organization objectives
  • Coordinates activities of division or departments such as operating, manufacturing, engineering, planning, sales, maintenance, or research and development to effect operational efficiency and economy
  • Analyzes branch budget requests to identify areas in which modifications can be made, to assure results in accordance with the approved budget
  • Promotes organization in industry, manufacturing or trade associations.
  • Develops location business plan
  • Ensures service levels meet or exceed customer needs and expectations
  • Develops, maintains, and improves customer, vendor, and employee relationships
  • Efficiently uses all assets including materials, machines, equipment, and people
  • Controls cost and determines future capital requirements of the business
  • Ensures workplace safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Maintains high ethical standard in all business dealings
  • Reviews information to determine employee performance and areas for improvement
  • Implements and complies with required company policies and procedures

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  •  High School diploma required
  • Minimum of three (3) years EWP distribution warehouse management experience
  • EWP product knowledge required; ability to read and interpret blueprints to ensure the accuracy of an order is preferred
  • Current experience with lumber treatment processes and EPA regulations strongly preferred
  • Experience with inventory optimization software
  • High level of knowledge in the application of the products being designed
  • Forklift experience required, forklift certification preferred
  • Requires good knowledge of treated lumber products and commonly used concepts and practices within the construction industry
  • Able to lift, shift, and push weight up to 75 pounds
  • Must pass the required pre-employment drug test and background check
