Managing Director Needed for Industrial & Commercial Distribution Company
May 3, 2022 – Schaffer Associates is recruiting for a Managing Director of a multi-location, $100MM+ industrial/commercial distributor. The Managing Director is responsible for developing and executing short- and long-term business and financial strategies for the company, monitoring goals, and adjusting policies to meet these goals. Responsibilities also include overseeing internal operations, helping to build strong customer relationships, maximizing the company’s operating performance in its locations throughout the Southeast, and helping to achieve the company’s financial goals. Based in Raleigh, the Managing Director supports the North America President & CEO for the parent company and works closely with other Managing Directors in their respective regions of the country.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the company focused on external and organic growth initiatives, including potential acquisitions and integration activities.
- Lead annual budget process, adhering to parent company financial requirements and KPIs
- Ensure proper operational and financial controls, reporting to the President & CEO of North America.
- Manage day-to-day business activities and act as a strong general manager for internal activities covering Operations, Sales, Procurement, Finance, HR, and IT.
- Be a visible Company representative for key Customers and Suppliers; be a voice for the parent company and act as an advocate for Company values and way of doing business.
- Lead, coach, direct, and evaluate the work of employee group, such as Senior Directors and Managers, maintaining a healthy work environment; ensure succession plans are in place.
- Focus on continuous improvement; make sure state-of-the-art processes, technologies and tools are in place to deliver excellent customer service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field required; MBA highly preferred.
- Minimum of ten years’ multi-unit management experience with full P&L responsibility for at least $100MM in revenue
- Must have minimal understanding of the European business culture and/or the French language and be willing to improve fluency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
